Zoe Jackson

While interning in the Gibbons lab, Zoe was a rising senior at Seattle University majoring in cell and molecular biology with minors in chemistry and data science. Throughout the 2025-2026 academic year, she conducted research within the Whidbey lab, leveraging chemical biology approaches to investigate microbe-host interactions within the vaginal microbiome.

During her internship at ISB, Zoe gained additional computational skills while looking to better understand interactions between the gut microbiome and statin use. To achieve this, she used data from ex vivo intervention experiments to look at changes in metabolite production/consumption, as well as statin-microbe associations. 

After leaving ISB, Zoe plans on pursuing graduate school with the goal of bridging computational and experimental methods in her future research.
